Deluge is a performance series that seeks to explore the depths and outer reaches of ambient, experimental, and avant-garde sound. The series aims to create environments for deep listening and discourse around boundary-pushing work by BIPOC artists, building upon the rich landscape of ambient and experimental music performance in Los Angeles with a socially and critically engaged approach.
In this evocative portrait, filmmaker Alexander Girav documents a series of sonic situations curated by Deluge at the Schindler House in Los Angeles. Girav captures the refined materiality, bold geometry, and subtle changing of light through the home’s spaces, as club experimentalist Kelman Duran, LA beatmaker Linafornia, and songwriter/musician Contour take us on a dynamic sonic odyssey. In this context, the home becomes an unconventional stage for performance, dissolving the boundaries between artist and audience, indoors and out, communion and solitude.
